Do you have paying guests? Fire Guidelines

In the Hospitality sector a large majority of us have guests, and some provide sleeping accommodation for those guests. If you fall into this category this post is important for you to read!

Whether you are a hotel, B&B, pub, resort, apartment owner or anything else that has any paying guests over night with accommodation then it is important you are aware of these legal responsibilities you have to your guests when it comes to fire safety.

We came up with the idea for this post when we found a booklet from the HM Government and The Chief Fire Officers Association that was made specifically for the hospitality industry. Some of you may have already read it and are implementing it, but if you haven’t or feel you need a refresh the link to the booklet is here. According to;

 "This publication seeks to address specific difficulties that the hospitality industry, specifically bed and breakfasts, guest houses and self catering properties, have faced in understanding the new rules on fire safety."

"It is designed to encourage compliance, by giving the owners of these businesses practical advice on reducing fire risks in their establishments."

"It explains the risk assessment process, sets out sources of further advice and guidance and offers some practical information for owners on what may represent appropriate and proportionate fire safety measures in these types of premises."

We highly recommend you read through the booklet and check you are in line with the law.
